Paracelsus Meets “E.T.”

This is my last posting for 2017.

A piece of desert-petrified sage branch that looked like a prehistoric fish. I took it home and looked at it from various angles. When I put it on a rock, it seemed to have something to say.

Here it is as just a piece of wood on my work bench. When I added a squirrel arm, it suddenly unfolded a story.

Decided to keep intact the curves, curls and natural shape of the wood. My role was to give it posture and expression. So, it acquired an eye, a squirrel arm, a single quail wing and hare fur. The synthesis of cross – or inter-species materials resulted in alchemy, a creature I think I created, like a sylphid.

I call it Paracelsus with the attitude of “E.T”. His finger points to the skies and his head is tilted just so to make it exospective.

We all seem to think “Take Me Home” on New Year’s Eve. And we have all of 2018 to figure out where is home, spiritually, emotionally and physically.
