Where a Hare Sleeps
This work led me to further exploration of skills
and materials.
I found a branch that had a perfect 10cm hole in it.
The long stem made a perfect pedestal for hiding something in that hole.
But what?
…My curiosity for learning new skills inevitably leads me
to experimenting. In this case it was with taxidermy while preserving animal
hide. To my surprise, I found that there is no need for man-made chemicals.
Indeed, water, salt, desert’s low humidity and sunshine are enough to preserve
hide. What one needs to learn is delicate patience.
So, decided to make that hole in the wood a resting
spot for a hare.
But when I looked at the finished work, there was
the 10cm open hole on the back of the sleeping hare’s head. So, it ended up as a
duality, a dichotomy perhaps.
For me, it is all about texture.
