Alexey Troitsky: Endgame at the Very Start
I was reading about the work of Alexey Troitsky regarding the importance of a few
chess pieces left at the end of a game. He is credited as being the mind behind
the strategies involving pawns and kings when other pieces are not on the board
anymore.
Based on my impression of Troitsky’s work, I wanted
to pain a “cranial” man with 20 or less brush strokes on hare skin. It was my
way of being strategic with a few strokes, monochrome colours and yet to capture
a moment of thinking and strategy.
It did take me exactly 20 strokes to give him
mustache, goatee and distinctive hair style… As for the endgame, I am still in
the game with my artistic explorations!
